Sushi King Chef's create Rolls and flavor combinations you won't find anywhere else. The waiter staff is highly attentive. Sushi King never disappoints.
Update: we came in for the Saturday lunch special una don and it was delicious. The waiters were very welcoming and warm. Also the miso soup was extra tasty, umami flavor was on point.
I've had takeout and delivery that I didn't really enjoy from this place but the times I've visited the restaurant and sat up at the sushi bar I've been treated to very fresh and tasty fish. The primary thing that I don't really like as much is I think their rice is under seasoned so I haven't enjoyed any of the rolls I have had from them. However I have definitely enjoyed their nigiri sushi. The interior is a bit of an enjoyable throwback to old school 90s sushi bars where I grew up. The service is always kind and helpful. I'll probably be back here before long as it is extremely close to my office, but wouldn't go out of my way for delivery or takeout.
I've been to Sushi King many times and their sushi is always excellent. They were one of the first places to re-open after COVID and have adaptive dining, which was appreciated. The service is always attentive and polite.
I've been to a lot of sushi restaurants all over the country, including some of the most famous places in New York, Philadelphia and Seattle. But Sushi King has been my favorite for many, many years. The wait staff are super friendly, as are the sushi chefs. We're always greeted when we arrive and when we leave. We love sitting at the sushi bar because we enjoy watching the sushi being prepared. They have a great selection of fish and shellfish, and the rolls are outstanding. Everything always is so fresh. Standouts are the sea urchin, tuna belly, giant clam and scallop. If you want something other than sushi, the Yellowtail chin is exceptional. We go to Sushi King as ofter as we can.
Solid and reliable Japanese restaurant with reasonable prices. Service was very polite and efficient. We shared a roll combination entree (tekka, Alaskan and California rolls) and a vegetarian sushi plate. Both came with salad, which was very fresh with a ginger miso dressing. The sushi rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tekka (tuna) and salmon (in the Alaskan roll) was also fresh. The vegetarian sushi had the usual kanpyo, cucumber and avocado selections, but also had inari (tofu skin), seaweed and avocado. Appreciated that it has vegetarian sushi with varied flavors and vegetable items (not all Japanese restaurants offer it).
I came here a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was the best Sushi in the whole DMV. Came back and I dont know what happened. Was it what I ordered? I had some great rolls but for some reason I felt like service or flavor was off. I will come back with a larger group. I want to sit at traditional Japanese tables/booth. Make reservations for that
I'm not sure if I'm happy or disappointed that Sushi King is pretty far from my house. This place is great! We dined in though they appear to do a TON of carryout. Our group of three did primarily rolls. Their eclectic collection of rolls is worth the trip for sure and the execution of those rolls is top notch. My son had the sushi deluxe which looked similar to most restaurants' versions of that dish. He said it was good. I had the Deep Sea Fantasy Roll and the Dancing Dragon Roll and they were both amazing. The table also ordered the Spicy King Crab Roll which was also totally excellent. The Holiday Roll was so good that we ended up ordering a second one! The décor and welcoming staff combined with the great food make this a "must visit" if you're in the area and searching for yummo sushi.
Sushi King is king! Had a wonderful visit here with my sister when we stopped in for lunch before closing after shopping nearby. Service was prompt and very friendly, we were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant was clean and quiet with a pleasant theme. We ordered a few maki rolls and the chicken teriyaki lunch special to share. The chicken teriyaki was fine, nothing to write home about. However the portion size of the chicken was generous, and with some extra rice or vegetables, the meal could easily be shared between two people just as we did. The sushi rolls were fresh and flavorful and definitely hit the spot! We were in and out within the hour, and there is ample parking in the lot which is convenient. All in all the meal was delicious and I would definitely go back for more!
I have had this theory that sushi quality reaches a plateau -- once you skip over the gas stations and the grocery stores (blergh), it starts becoming really hard to find anything that's really any different. You start finding overpriced places that are the same as the reasonable price down the road, right? Thanks, Sushi King, for ruining my theory. Sushi King manages to have incredibly great food, incredible variety, and reasonable prices, making it among my new favourite restaurants. And while I often order sushi for delivery or to go, Sushi King is just utterly adorable inside, with friendly, fast, good service. The restaurant is just beautiful inside, with lots of great little decorative features -- including those little Japanese tables that were a feature of sushi restaurants when sushi restaurants were new, and vanished as they became Americanized. The rolls are creative without being pretentious or just weird, and there is a great variety of fish beyond the typical. Definitely going to be popping in here now and again for lunch, or dinner, or second lunch, or maybe supper, or just 7-PM snack.
